I’m originally from England and moved to the U.S. in 2012 to continue my career in advertising sales. After a 27-year run, I stepped back into semi-retirement in 2020. These days, I focus on our short-term rental homes in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, where we put a lot of care into making each stay feel special.

Taryn is from Hawaii and works as the Director of Brand Marketing for an apparel company that supports U.S. national parks, so a connection to the outdoors is very much part of who we are.

We met in 2017 and got married in 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic. We spent part of our honeymoon in Joshua Tree, and something about the desert just clicked for us. The stillness, the light, the night skies… it immediately felt like somewhere we wanted to return to again and again.

That trip ended up changing everything. We left knowing we wanted a place of our own there, somewhere we could retreat to and eventually share with others. What followed was a two-year journey building our home in Joshua Tree from the ground up.

It’s still very much a passion project for us, and something we’re genuinely proud of. We love opening it up to guests and friends and sharing a place that means so much to us.

For us, hosting isn’t just about providing a place to stay. It’s about creating a space where people can relax, recharge, and feel truly at home.
